Post 186 Election & Nomination Rules

Welcome to the Post 186 Election Information Page

As an active and engaged membership, our Post thrives on strong leadership and participation. The annual election process ensures that our officers and Executive Board members represent the interests of our Legionnaires while upholding the mission of The American Legion. Below, you’ll find important details about the nomination process, election procedures, and how to cast your vote. Whether you’re considering running for office or simply want to make your voice heard, we encourage all eligible members to take part in this essential process.

Election & Nominating Committee

The Election & Nominating Committee (E&N Committee) oversees the election process and consists of at least two Legionnaires in good standing who are not running for office. For the 2026 election, the committee members are:

  • Keith Hines - E&N Chair
  • Donna Rojas
  • Jeff Rogers

  • Three (3) House Committee Members

Key Election Dates & Guidelines

  • Nominations will open at our February 5, 2026 General Membership Meeting and will close at the regular membership meeting prior to Election Day.
  • All candidates must be verified members of Post 186 with qualifying military service.
  • Write-in (absentee) votes are not permitted.
  • The 2026 election will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Post 186.
